Guides to Therapy, School and Life Changes

Answers about getting started, moving between states, fees and making space for therapy.

What Are You Wondering About?

I put these guides together for the questions that come up before someone contacts me about therapy. You may be trying to understand a first appointment, comparing payment options or wondering what happens when you move. Start with the question you have today. You do not need to read every topic before asking me about working together. If two questions overlap, you can bring both to the consultation instead of deciding which one should come first.

School, Home and a New Address

A semester, summer break or new job can change where you spend your days. My guides about moving and school explain why your physical location matters for online therapy. I am licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Knowing that rule early can help you ask about continuing sessions before your travel plans become crowded.

Before the First Appointment

If you have never been to therapy, the unfamiliar details can feel like another task to get right. I explain my 60-minute intake and offer questions for finding a therapist in your 20s. You can bring an unfinished explanation of what is hard. I ask questions and set goals with you rather than expecting a prepared speech.

Worry in Everyday Life

Stress and anxiety are words people use in different ways. I focus on the effect on your sleep, decisions, relationships and ordinary routines. The guide on telling them apart is a place to consider what you have noticed, not a checklist for diagnosing yourself. A recent example can be more useful than finding the perfect label.

I would rather hear the question you actually have than a polished reason for calling.

Fees and a Workable Schedule

Payment questions deserve clear answers before you arrange an intake. I accept some insurance plans and offer private pay; ask about your plan during a free 15-minute consultation. I explain superbills and the weekly or every-other-week rhythm of 45-minute sessions. Individual appointments are $175. The intake fee is confirmed during your free consultation. Possible out-of-network reimbursement depends on your plan, so check your benefits before relying on it in your budget.

How You Want to Meet

I offer in-person appointments at my Shelton office and online appointments within my four licensed states. Both use weekday daytime hours. My comparison guide considers privacy, a stable connection and the time around an appointment. If your calendar or location changes, tell me so we can discuss the arrangement rather than assuming it stays the same.

General Information, Not Medical Advice

These pages explain my practice and offer general information. I cannot assess your circumstances or promise results through a guide. Bring questions about your own symptoms or care to a clinician. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988, or call 911. My practice and between-session texts are not crisis services.

Ask About the Part That Is Still Unclear

After reading, you may still have a question about fit, your location or scheduling. A free 15-minute consultation lets us discuss those details. Send a note through the contact form, or call or email me when you’re ready.
