Online Therapy vs. In-Person Therapy
A guide from Bridget Moore, LCSW. General information, not medical advice.
The Short Answer
I offer the same space for discussing your goals through two ways of meeting: in person in Shelton or online. The better practical choice depends on privacy, location and your daytime schedule. You do not have to decide from a general claim that one format is best for everyone. We can talk about what each would require in your week.
Think About Where You Can Talk
Online can remove a trip, but it still needs a place where other people cannot hear the conversation. A shared kitchen or a busy workplace may not let you speak freely. I would ask where you plan to sit and what interruptions are likely. Consider that before treating a gap in the calendar as an available appointment.
What the Office Option Involves
My in-person office is at 1000 Bridgeport Ave, Suite 307, Shelton, CT 06484. You can arrive a few minutes early for your first visit, and parking details are shared beforehand. My office appointments are on weekdays during the day. Think about the time needed before and after the appointment rather than fitting only the session itself into a crowded day.
The Online Location Requirement
You must be physically in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey or Rhode Island during every online session with me. I confirm your location even if we usually meet from the same place. Working remotely or visiting family can change that detail. Your permanent address does not give permission to meet while you are outside those states.
What a Conversation Looks Like
In either format, I might ask about an anxious thought, a recent decision or a pattern in a relationship. We can set goals and discuss practical skills between appointments. Online meetings also require a stable connection and a phone or computer. Tell me if the setting makes it harder to concentrate or to explain what happened.
I care about where you can speak honestly, not just where the appointment fits.
Bridget Moore, LCSWMixing the Two Options
We can discuss in-person and online appointments rather than assuming you must use only one format forever. A school break, work change or move may affect the arrangement. Please raise those plans before scheduling. Availability and your location still matter each time, and a format change is something to coordinate rather than decide after an appointment begins.
When to Contact Me
Reach out if uncertainty about the format has kept you from asking about therapy. You can explain your work hours, household privacy and expected state without knowing which option you prefer. This comparison is general information, not medical advice or a guarantee that a particular setting will suit you. We can discuss the practical fit together.
