Therapy for Orange, CT Residents
Examine the overthinking and people pleasing that keep leaving less room for your own priorities.
When Saying Yes Has a Cost
Agreeing to another request can feel easier than sitting with someone else’s disappointment. Then your own plans get squeezed out. I offer therapy for Orange residents who want to look at anxiety, stress and the decisions behind that pattern. My clients include students, professionals, new parents and adults changing careers, especially people roughly 20 to 45. We meet in Shelton or online while you are in Connecticut.
What the Request Brings Up
We can begin with a recent moment when you said yes and wished you had not. I ask what you expected would happen if you declined and how the choice affected your week. This keeps the discussion concrete. You do not have to demonstrate a major crisis before talking about a pattern that leaves you overwhelmed.
Thoughts, Evidence and a Response
I use CBT to examine a prediction, such as assuming a limit will end a friendship or damage a work relationship. We look at what you know and what you are guessing. A response can include checking the thought and preparing words you can use, rather than repeatedly seeking reassurance that nothing uncomfortable will happen.
Practicing a Boundary
DBT skills can help us work on communication and difficult feelings around a request. We might rehearse a clear answer, discuss what to leave out and make room for the discomfort afterward. I draw on ACT to connect the boundary to your values. The goal is a usable option, not a promise that the conversation will be easy.
In Person at My Shelton Location
The practice office is at 1000 Bridgeport Ave, Suite 307, Shelton, CT 06484. I meet Orange residents there rather than at an Orange office. We can discuss the appointment format and the time you can make available. Parking details are shared before your first visit; no travel time is assumed in planning your care.
We can practice a clear answer without asking you to stop caring about other people.
Bridget Moore, LCSWOnline With Privacy
For this Connecticut online option, you must physically be in Connecticut when we meet. Use a private space, a phone or computer and a stable connection. Let me know about a location change or a temporary stay before the appointment. Office and online sessions can both be considered as your schedule changes.
The First Longer Conversation
Our 60-minute intake includes mental health, medical, social, family, school and work history. We agree on goals based on what you want to address. Later conversations can include an attempt at a boundary or another moment of second guessing. I want to hear when a skill did not fit so we can adjust rather than treat it as your failure.
Cost and Scheduling Limits
The intake fee is confirmed during your free consultation. Individual appointments cost $175 for 45 minutes, weekly or every other week. I keep a weekday daytime schedule, without evening or weekend sessions. I offer private pay and accept some insurance plans; ask me about your plan during a free 15-minute consultation. Superbills are available for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Check your plan because reimbursement is not guaranteed.
Choosing Therapy for Yourself
I work with adults ages 18 and up seeking therapy by their own choice. Call or email for a free 15-minute consultation about fit, practical questions and the concern bringing you here. The contact form is another easy way to ask. I confirm appointments with you; reaching out is not the same as booking a session.
