Moving for School or Work
Plan for care that can continue across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
A New Address Does Not Always Mean a New Therapist
Moving for a degree or a job can change your routines and leave you wanting a familiar conversation. Continuity across the Northeast is a focus of my practice. I work with adults roughly 20 to 45 in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Online care can continue across those four states when you are physically in a licensed state at the time of each session.
Use Your Actual Session Location
The important location is where you are during our appointment, not the address on your paperwork. Tell me the state you will join from when making plans and confirm it each session. My own location does not change the rule about where you, as the client, must be physically located.
Plan Around the School Calendar
You may spend the school year in one licensed state and summer in another. We can discuss that change before it happens and keep our goals in view. Staying with one therapist can preserve the context of earlier conversations while we address the routines and relationships that shift between semesters.
Meet From the State Where You Work
Living in one of my licensed states and working in another can still allow an online appointment. A lunch hour may be an option if you have a private setting and enough time. We check the office location for that session, rather than assuming your home state covers every workday.
Discuss a Move During Treatment
If you are considering a relocation, tell me where you expect to be and when. A move between Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island may allow sessions to continue online. I cannot provide a session when you are physically outside those states, so we plan around that limit instead of overlooking it.
We can plan for the move while keeping the conversation going.
Bridget Moore, LCSWMake Room for the Emotional Change
Practical arrangements are only part of moving. You may miss friends, question a job choice or feel overwhelmed by unfamiliar routines. I draw on CBT and ACT to examine anxious predictions and clarify what matters as you settle into the change, with space to discuss low motivation or pulling away.
Keep a Private Place to Join
For an online appointment, choose a private space, a stable connection and a phone or computer. A location that worked before a move may not be available afterward. We can discuss those arrangements ahead of time so the session does not depend on finding somewhere to talk at the last minute.
Consider the Shelton Option
In-person appointments are available at 1000 Bridgeport Ave, Suite 307, Shelton, CT 06484. You can discuss mixing office and online meetings if your schedule changes. I keep weekday daytime hours in both formats, with no evening or weekend appointments, so we check timing alongside the place you will be.
Keep Fees and Frequency in View
Individual therapy is $175 for 45 minutes, weekly or every other week, in either format. The intake fee is confirmed during your free consultation. I offer private pay alongside some insurance plans I accept. We can discuss your plan during a free 15-minute consultation. Superbills are available for possible out-of-network reimbursement, which is not guaranteed. Ask your plan about benefits before relying on reimbursement as part of your budget.
Check Your Next Location With Me
In a free 15-minute consultation, tell me the states involved in your school or work plans. We can discuss continuity, weekday timing and whether my licensed locations fit the care you need.
