Therapy for Medical and Health Students

Time to discuss academic pressure, comparison and location changes during medical, nursing or other health training.

A Person Beyond the Next Requirement

Medical, nursing and other health students can carry academic pressure alongside questions about the kind of work they want to do. A long training path may also mean changes in schedule, relationships and location. I work with adults roughly 20 to 45 on anxiety, stress and life transitions. Therapy gives us time to discuss your experience of training, rather than only the next requirement.

01

Talk About the Comparison

You may see classmates progressing and wonder if you are falling behind, even when you are meeting expectations. We can examine the meaning you attach to a grade or an uncertain answer. I use CBT to question predictions about failure without dismissing the real demands of your coursework and training.

02

Keep Perfectionism Specific

I ask where checking and revising help, and where they keep you from finishing or resting. A recent assignment gives us an example to work with. We can consider a more realistic stopping point and what you would need to tolerate when the work feels imperfect rather than completely reassuring.

03

Include the Rest of Your Life

Relationships, homesickness and a loss of familiar routines can affect your week alongside exams. I want those concerns in the conversation too. We might choose a small way to reconnect with someone or examine what is making a shared living situation difficult, instead of discussing school as an isolated problem.

04

Consider Your Direction in Training

ACT can help us discuss what matters as you weigh future roles or feel uncertain about the path you chose. I ask about your values and the next decision you can actually influence. You do not need a settled answer about your whole career before we can work on present stress.

Your concerns deserve time beyond the next exam or assignment.

Training and Session Plans

Plan for Rotations or Residency Moves

A move during training can interrupt care if your new location changes where sessions are allowed. I am licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. We can continue online when you are physically in one of those states at appointment time, including when your training location changes between them.

Check Where You Will Be That Day

A school address or permanent home address does not replace your physical location for the session. Tell me where you will join from each time. If a rotation or visit puts you outside my four licensed states, we need to reschedule or meet when you are back in a licensed state.

Match Appointments to Daytime Openings

My schedule is weekdays during the day, not evenings or weekends. A gap between classes may work if it provides a private space and stable connection for 45 minutes. We discuss the actual time available to you before deciding how weekly or every-other-week appointments could fit your training schedule.

Ask About Costs Before Beginning

Each individual session is $175. Superbills are available on request for possible out-of-network reimbursement, which is not guaranteed. Check your plan about eligibility and requirements. A free consultation covers practical questions, including the intake fee; the intake itself lasts 60 minutes and includes educational history and shared goals.

A Conversation to Begin

Discuss Care That Can Continue During Training

Ask about a free 15-minute consultation before a semester or location change. Tell me where you expect to be so we can check the session rules and daytime timing together.
